The Wisdom of Age

The thought of “old people” has always brought a very vivid flashback in my mind. Funny smells. Slow Driving. Mid-afternoon naps. Slow deliberate movements. Retelling of the glory days. It seemed like getting old sucked. [No offense grandma!] So now that I’m a college graduate and on my way to becoming a productive member of society [ok ok fine, I'm an old], I’ve come to realize the great wisdom that comes with age. I used to think I had things figured out.

Now when older people talk, I listen.

When they share, I’m a sponge.

They they give advice, I heed it.

Why? Because with age, comes experiences and insight. Recently I ran across an article by John Wooden. Who is he? He’s not THAT big. I mean, he only has 10 NCAA Basketball Championships and the UCLA Recreation center named after him. The article, titled “John Wooden: What I’ve learned” is bascially snippits of what he has learned in his amazing life.

My personal favorite

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation”

If you have a chance, the rest of the article can be found here.
